Volunteers Neded

Hello Everybody!
This time of year is super busy for everyone, and the Middle School PTS is no exception!!

We need your help with several events we have planned. We need bakers, we need veggie and fruit donations, we need people willing to help with ice cream parties at the Trout Ponds, volunteers for the yard sale at the Village Green, and people willing to help with the Book Fair.

If you have an hour or two during the following times/dates, please let us know. If you can bake or send in something for staff appreciation week, please let us know.

We will be making phone calls for helpers, but you can make it so much easier by emailing or calling and letting us know what you can do to help out! Below are the events and times:

May 3 through May 7 - Staff Appreciation Week

We need people willing to come in on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday morning to set up the fruit/veggies and baked goods in the Teacher's lounge. This is done first thing in the morning and usually takes no more than 1/2 hour to set up.

We also need help with setting up lunch on Wednesday when we provide the subs. Again, no more than 1/2 hour or so.

We also need people willing to help post paragraphs the students are writing about their favorite
staff members in the hallways for everyone to enjoy.

The following items are needed:

Monday: fresh fruit and veggies will be provided - need donations.
Tuesday: baked goods will be provided - need donations.
Wednesday: Subway will be provided - need donations of drinks, chips.
Thursday: baked goods will be provided - need donations.

May 8 - Community Yard Sales

The Newark Valley Middle School PTS will be participating in the community yard sales on Saturday May 8th. You can drop off donations of clean, usable items in good condition at the Noble Room (the room to the right of the post office) on Friday May 7th between 3pm and 5pm.
If you need to make alternate drop off arrangements, please contact either Marietta Pianosi at mpianosi@nvcs.stier.org or Kellie Campbell at kecampbell@frontiernet.net. Items that do not sell will be donated to the local thrift store.

We need volunteers to work tables (setting up, picking up, willing to take leftovers to mission, etc.), volunteers to take money, volunteers to cook hot dogs and serve food (hot dogs, popcorn and drinks)

We need volunteers on May 7 to help with donations being dropped off (pricing, sorting, etc.) at the Noble Room from 3 to 5 pm.

We also need tables. If you have a table that we could borrow, let us know.

May 10 and May 14 - Academic Achievement Parties

Students in grades 4 through 7 who have achieved a certain level of academic success in the first 30 weeks of school will be invited to a "make your own sundae" party at the Trout Ponds. We need people to help with this event, which will be during part of the last period of the day and after school on these days. We need folks to help with ice cream setup, cleanup, walking the kids down to the Trout Ponds, etc... If it rains, the parties will be held in the cafeteria on these same days, so we will still need setup, cleanup, etc...

June 4, June 7, and June 8 - Spring Book Fair

This book fair is our buy one get one free event! We need your help to make it successful! We need people to work the book fair during school hours and before and after the Pops concert on the 8th. Even if you only have 1 or 2 hours to spare - every little bit helps!

We sure hope there is something in this huge list that you can help us with. Don't be shy, now! Give us a call or drop us an email and let us know hope you can help us to support our students, staff and community.

Thanks everybody, we hope to hear from you soon
